FDA Investigating Improvements in Gluten Labelling
In a hopefully positive recent development, the FDA is taking a closer look at gluten and related ingredient labelling on food products and wants your feedback!
If you have celiac disease, are extra gluten sensitive, and/or have other food allergies, you understand the frustration that comes with reading labels and finding ingredients like “modified food starch,” “natural flavors,” or “vegetable color” with absolutely zero indication of what foods those starches, flavors, and colors actually came from.
That food starch or natural flavor could be wheat, barley or rye based - all grains which contain gluten, which is bad news for those with celiac or allergies to those grains.

Based on current information, the FDA feedback portal for this docket should remain open at least through March 20, 2026.
