Fried Egg I’m in Love
Fried Egg I'm In Love was my first food cart stop when I revisited Portland in spring of 2022 contemplating a move here. I was staying around the corner from Pioneer Courthouse Square (at the wonderful Paramount hotel!) and craving something quick, yet satisfying, to start my first full day off back in PDX.
They have a nice variety of breakfast sandwiches, with creative music-based names like "Yolko Ono," "Sriracha Mix-A-Lot," and my personal favorite "Free Range Against the Machine" (add bacon!). And of course you can get any sandwich made with gluten free bread, which is why we’re featuring it! Breakfast sandwiches seem to be one of the hardest things to find gluten free, but not in Portland!
It's typically about a 15-20 minute wait for your sandwich after you order - lines can vary considerably day to day. Also note, if you're getting ready to hop on The MAX or otherwise planning on eating this sandwich on the go, you might want to ask for it "commuter style" (main picture), which means the egg yolk will be cooked through and won't explode all over your face and outfit. If you can, I recommend just allowing yourself some time to sit down and enjoy the messy goodness to get the best experience.
Recently, Fried Egg I'm In Love has opened a brick and mortar on the south end of Mississippi Avenue. Now, you can enjoy truly amazing craft cocktails along with the satisfying breakfast sandwiches you know and love.
