Jojo
Jojo is a hip casual spot in the Pearl for gourmet burgers and jojos of course. This is a brick and mortar expansion of their long successful food cart and I love having them as an option in the neighborhood!
Jojo has a well-labeled menu with gluten free buns available for any sandwich. When I’m not feeling like a burger I go for their amazing BLT on the gluten free bun. It’s loaded with crispy, thick cut bacon, lettuce, tomato and Duke’s mayo (IYKYK). And thankfully, their jojos are fried up in a dedicated frier, so cross-contamination is very limited here.
I recently ordered the spicy cheeseburger there for the first time. This was delicious and easily smokes away the smokeshack burger over at Shake Shack. Also, Jojo has a pepper relish for this burger that smells amazing, I can’t eat it since it has carrot (allergic) it in, but highly recommend you give it a try if you like spicy.
And of course no trip to Jojo would be complete without ordering the jojos. They are so crispy and the seasoning is addictive. There are a wide variety of dipping sauces to choose from - my favorite is the spicy mayo (which is also what’s on the spicy cheeseburger.)
If you’re gluten free and love good cocktails, smashburgers and jojos, definitely check this place out! For your gluten eating friends, of course they can do burgers with regular buns, but they also have quite a few fried chicken sandwich options as well. Maybe one day the chicken here will be gluten free too? 🤞
