Bluto’s

Bluto’s is a hip Greek bistro-style spot on bustling Belmont St. serving mostly Greek street foods as well as Greek inspired takes on some menu standards - their wedge salad being a great example, as well as one of the best things on the menu!

Bluto’s doesn’t quite earn my “gluten free friendly” rating as their menu does not label anything gluten free, nor is it totally comprehensive on ingredients.

That said, it’s quite like eating in Greece where much of the food is simply gluten free by default and you just need to talk to your server to make sure you don’t accidentally order something that has bread crumbs or other unexpected gluten.

I ordered the wedge salad, pork chop with fries and the tzatziki of course. The wedge salad is by far the standout here. It’s like a traditional wedge salad, except topping with feta instead of bleu cheese and they use an absolutely addictive “ranchziki” dressing. I would go back anytime for this amazing salad!

My pork chop and fries were a bit less remarkable. The pork meat was flavorful and nicely charred, but the entire dish tasted like someone accidentally dumped an entire salt shaker on it. I love salty and savory, but sadly, I could not finish this. The tzatziki was great, very heavy on the dill, which I love, and is probably the second best in town, only behind Tréla Greek Kitchen. I do appreciate the fact that I can order the tzatziki sauce on its own here vs. having it be more expensive because it comes with pita bread that I can’t even eat.

Unfortunately, I ordered all these items to-go, so I couldn’t just send the pork chop and fries back to be remade. I’m hoping someone just had an off night in the kitchen, but I’ve seen a few other reviews indicating similar issues, though also plenty of reviews saying things weren’t overly salted. So next time I choose Bluto’s, I will be dining in and update my review accordingly. I think some souvlaki is calling my name!
