It's not that often that those of us with gluten issues get to eat at a place repeatedly ranked as one of the best in the country and don't have to worry about getting glutened. Kann is that wonderful unicorn of a restaurant in Portland!

I dined here with a good sized group, family style, so was able to sample a wide assortment of dishes.

Of these, the pork chop was my favorite. It was at least 3 inches thick, so tender and covered in a warm, peach sauce. Also very noteworthy were the peanut creamed greens and the traditional akra taro root fritters.

Don't forget to save room for dessert! Highly recommend the baked Haiti!

Kann has amazing food, wonderful service and a trendy setting. That said, it's pretty brightly lit and noisy, so not the ideal date night spot unless the goal is just to impress with the food and your planning skills in snagging such a hard to get reservation!

Speaking of which, word on the street is reservations open on the 1st of every month for the following month, so set a reminder! They also have a sister bar, Sousol, down in the basement where you can enjoy more amazing cocktails and some small bites. This is on my very long list of places to check out soon and will report back when I do!
