Pop Pizza
Pop Pizza has a very special place in my heart as it was my very first meal upon arrival at my new home in Portland, Oregon.
It was Thursday evening and I had left Los Angeles late Tuesday night to arrive in Sacramento for an overnight, then Wednesday night was spent in Klamath Falls before the final push to Portland on Thursday. After being greeted by my realtor and going through the condo moving orientation, it was 5:30pm and I was starving and exhausted.
I opened my DoorDash app to see what was around and found Pop Pizza, and to my delight, saw they have a gluten free crust available!
I ordered a simple gluten free pepperoni pizza and was absolutely wowed by what arrived. It was a thick Detroit style pan pizza with the little curled up crispy pepperonis, sauce and cheese spread all the way to the edges. The crust was light and sort of spongey, but nice and crispy around the edges, and most importantly full of flavor!
It paired quite nicely with a little bubbly to celebrate my first night in my new home. Since then, I've ordered more times than I can count and have recommended them to everyone in the area who wants a solid gluten free pizza.
Definitely don’t skip the dipping sauces here. I’ve had the hot honey, ranch, Calabrian chiles, and marinara. My favorite way to eat Pop Pizza is to cut each piece into strips and dunk them like breadsticks.
Oh, and lastly, you can even have dessert here as they have macarons on the menu! If you weren’t aware these are gluten free, read more from my blog Surprising Gluten Free Foods. Enjoy!
